Be sure to get a good nights sleep! Getting tattooed is stressful on the body, so a good nights sleep is needed! It is also highly recommended that you eat a meal and properly hydrate beforehand! You could end up getting all dizzy and pass out or vomit :( It’s important to make sure you’re feeling well for your appointment!
I would 100% dress comfy and wear black or stuff you wouldn’t mind if ink somehow got on it. Dress for the tattoo that you’re getting please! Example; if you're getting a leg tattoo wear/bring shorts, if you’re getting a back tattoo wear/bring a zip up jacket to put on backwards so I have access to your full back, if you’re getting an arm tattoo wear a tank top, etc.
Remember to bring your ID first and foremost!! You’re also welcome to bring a blanket, pillows, snacks, drinks, MJ ;), just anything to make you more comfortable and make your experience more enjoyable!
I would appreciate if you wanted to come early come no more than 15 minutes early, and if you’re going to be late please don’t be more than 15 late. I typically have appointments lined up for the day and I want to make sure I have time for everyone that is scheduled. If you are going to be late just let me know if you’re going to be late and how late you are going to be ASAP.
First off I will confirm the piece with you and make sure you like every bit of it! Then I will get stencils printed out and you get to pick the size that you desire! I will mark the exact spot that you want your tattoo in and then shave the area. After shaving I will apply the stencil and then we just wait a few minutes for it to dry then we can start! Typically we start with the linework, then we move to shading/color, and finally last touches and white highlights! Then we are done! I will take a few photos and then put saniderm on if you want it, and if not I will put a little something on the tattoo to help with stinging and you will be on your way!
Tattoos feel different for everyone and they also feel different in each area being tattooed. To broadly generalize the feeling, it feels a bit stingily like a cat scratch or a cut while shaving but honestly not as intense as those most times. It will feel pretty vibrate-y and some places it feels more vibrate-y than others. Interesting thing is, most people typically start feeling less pain 10/20 minutes into the tattoo, our bodies are amazing and we miraculously numb ourselves. Most people think the pain will be a lot worse than it is. Not to mention, a few hours of pain for a lifetime of an awesome tattoo!
You are 100% able to buy your own numbing cream/spray! I recommend “Painless Tattoo” or ”Tattoo Numbing” personally. Both can either be looked up on the internet or Instagram. If you want to apply before your appointment, shave the area, apply the cream, wrap in plastic wrap 30 minutes before the tattoo, then I will take it off at the appointment. If you are getting a larger tattoo you can put some on beforehand using the same instructions, but I recommend applying the numbing cream after linework is complete. Doing it after linework is complete will numb the area for a pretty long time and you most likely will stay numb until after the appointment.
